　　宋大勇先生1954年生于台北，14岁开始师从台湾著名画家沈以正、范伯洪先生习学山水画。1976年毕业于台北故宫博物院书画鉴赏研究班。后赴美国加州大学攻读艺术，先后获得学士、硕士学位。1984年入南加州大学博士班研究艺术史。现任美国中华艺术学会会长，中國畫學會(美國)副會長。Soong was born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1954. Since a young child, Soong enjoyed spending long hours observing the beauty of nature. His passion for creating the picturesque scenes of Asia's majestic and tranquil landscapes later developed in his teenage years. At the age of fourteen, Soong learned the basic techniques of landscape water color under the mastership of Mr. Shen Yi Jen and Mr. Fang Bo Hong, two well-respected Chinese landscape painters.

　　谢稚柳画师曾赞许：宋大勇先生吸收了传统中国画博大精深的历史、文化、技法等诸多元素，又融合了现代西方美学与绘画中厚彩,、凝重、透视、立体等技法，中西结合、古今结合，虚实结合，写实与浪漫结合。一改传统写意山水重墨轻色风格，将中国画泼墨写意的丰富内涵与意境和西方绘画的色彩表现力完美地融汇在一起，恪守传统而不拘泥于传统，承继历史却赋予创新，不断追求自我却又广泛汲取精华」。

　　海上大家程十发曾评「其作品风格清新，典雅生动，恬静舒雅，气韵内敛，意境深远，情趣盎然。画面布局精巧，结构严谨，墨色相宜，赏心悦目，甚有新意」。

　　台北故宫博物院秦孝仪院长评价宋大勇先生：「根基深厚圆熟的绘画技法，故能笔墨精良，清丽直爽;对古典文学的深厚涉猎，故作品具超凡之诗文境界;丰富的学经历，漫游山川，方能胸襟开阔，造出大格局;对艺术的钟情关怀，把美学的体认融入生活中，而能别开生面」。

　　The Life and Works of Michael Soong

　　Throughout the years, Soong continues to use Asia's beautiful nature as a potent source of inspiration for many of his painting. His depiction of China's mountains, bodies of water, rock formations, and flora and fauna has been described by many as meticulously detailed and extraordinarily elegant.

　　Unlike other artists, Soong's work of art is modern and creative, but at the same time he captures the aesthetics and sophistication of traditional Chinese Landscape paintings. Also, Soong’s depictions of nature are seldom mere representations of the external world. Rather, they are expressions of the mind and heart and often capture strong poetic themes of harmony, tranquility, romance, and peace.

　　1971 won 1st place for his painting 【Autumn Mountain】at the “National Youth Art Competition”; 1975 received 2nd place for his painting 【 Fisherman】 at the “National College Art Competition”; 1983 received a Master Degree of Fine Art from CSUF and completed his graduation art exhibit the same year; 1986 received a gold medal for his painting 【Four Season Landscape screen】from the “Southern California Chinese Art Association”; 1987【waterfall】was selected for China-Japan Good Will Art Exhibit; April 1994 embarked on his first solo art exhibition at the Chinese Cultural Center in Los Angeles; 1988【suddenly rain】was selected for China-Japan Water Ink Association Exhibition; 2000 created his second solo art exhibition in Taipei, Taiwan. 2011【The dialogue between Clay and paper】showed in Los Angeles. And same year of November showed 40 pieces on Chu Chizan memorial Gallery in Shanghai. 2012 showed 50 pieces in Chengchow, 2015 showed 60 pieces in Xiling. President of Chinese Painting and Calligraph Society of USA,starting 2014 to present.
